The new Basura Tax in Nerja

The new Basura (Rubbish) Tax is payable every six months, with the first period or semester corresponding to January – June and the second period corresponding to July – December.

The first payment period for 2013 has just finished and shortly homeowners will receive the invoice for the second period of 2013, which has to be paid by February 20th. The normal rate is €36 per year (in 2 payments of €18 each), although if you have a large house you will pay €48 per year (in 2 payments of €24 each).

If you do not receive the invoice, you will need to collect it at the Nerja Tax Office, Patronato de Recaudacion, in Calle Axarquia number 3, (opposite the entrance to avenida Castilla Perez). on Mondays to Fridays from 09:00 to 13:30.

Anyone can pick up the Tax Form for you, so no worries if you happen to be out of town when payment is due. There is a surcharge/fine for late payment.

The tax can be paid at any bank listed on the invoice. An alternative is to set up a standing order and this can be done at your regular bank, at the Nerja Tax Office or via the internet at www.prpmalaga.es and by clicking on Domiciliacion de Recibos. You will need the reference number from the invoice, shown as matricula (this is the same reference number appearing on your IBI Tax Forms).

Further information can be obtained by emailing [email protected] or by calling 902 152 000 extension 2 (In English from 16:00 to 18:00).
