A 27-year-old woman, a Paraguayan national, has been arrested in Fuengirola on suspicion of the temporary abandonment of a minor after she allegedly left her three-year-old daughter alone at home while she went out for drinks with friends on New Year’s Eve.
A neighbour apparently alerted the authorities after hear a child crying and seeing it leaning out to the balcony. Police had to pick the lock to gain entry.
According to the woman, she and her young daughter had been out in the square to celebrate the arrival of the new year. She says her daughter then fell asleep and she took her home to bed.
The woman said she was then invited out for a drink and, as her daughter was asleep, accepted the offer. She told police that she had only been gone for 45 minutes.
The woman was charged and then released.
