Nerja Council and Málaga Provincial Council have reached an agreement to fund the Fire Station, although they will immediately begin chasing the Junta de Andalucia to honour its commitment to finance the project.
Efforts to solicit any sort of response from the Junta de Andalucia relating to the project in the past few years have failed miserably, so alternative means were sought.
Málaga Council will provide 70% of the funding, Nerja Council the remaining 30%. The Fire Station, once built, will serve not only Nerja but other municipalities in the area. The Provincial Fire Consortium (CPB) will be responsible for the technical and human resources aspects of the facility.
