An investigation into the fatal accident involving 33-year-old National Police officer Enrique Gómez, who was killed when his bicycle was hit by a car, took an unexpected turn yesterday.
The incident occurred on February 2nd in Campanillas and the driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old woman, was charged after initial tests showed the presence of amphetamines in her system.
However, further tests carried out at the Department of Toxicology at the University of Santiago de Compostela showed the presence of a number of substances including cocaine and ecstasy.
As a result, a judge ordered her immediate arrest and detention in custody. The detainee denies taking drugs.
