Cristiano Ronaldo netted twice as Real Madrid reached the Champions League last eight with a 9-2 aggregate win over German side Schalke 04.
Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 21st minute but Schalke levelled ten minutes later when Tim Hoogland’s low shot took a deflection to beat keeper Iker Casillas.
Ronaldo scored his 41st this season, and 13th in the Champions League, with a low shot before Alvaro Morata tapped in the third. Final score 3-1. Ronaldo is only one goal shy of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi who scored 14 during the 2011-12 season
