This year’s olive oil campaign has been historic, not only for record production figures but also for the fact that for the first time, Spain has become the world’s leading supplier of oil.
Olive oil production was 1,700,000 tons, of which 1,400,000 was from Andalucia. On the export side of things, Spain became the leading supplier of olive oil to the world market, moving ahead of Italy, Greece and Tunisia.
