New anti-stick product being used to help clean up wax from the processions

The Council Cleaning Department will be experimenting with a new product designed to stop the candle wax sticking to the pavements during the upcoming Easter Week processions.

The exercise will involve the application of the product to the pavement prior to the processions so that the subsequent cleaning will be a much faster and more efficient process. This new product prevents the wax from sticking to the ground.

The coating needs time to properly dry so the paseo Balcón de Europa, calle Pintada, calle Carmen and calle Puerta del Mar will be provisionally closed until Wednesday for this purpose.

At the end of Holy Week, a special cleaning operation will remove the product and the attached wax spots so that the pavements are once again clean and do not present a ‘dirty’ image.
