The Balcón de Europa Chess Club will be playing in the Andalucian First Division next season, but only after the resolution of a legal dispute.
The Nerja club finished as runners-up in the 2013/14 Málaga Provincial championships and entered the play-offs, taking on Caja Granada B. The first match in Granada ended in a draw, 2.5 points each. The second match, at the Giner de los Rios Centre, was 1 4-1 win for Nerja.
However, the Granada team lodged a complaint and the competition referee awarded the tie to Granada.
The Nerja team lodged an appeal with the Competition Committee of the Andalucian Chess Federation and after an arduous legal wrangle the Balcon de Europa Chess Club will now be playing in the First Division.
