The Guardia Civil have arrested seventeen people and seized 420,000 medicines and 2,000 vials of fake drugs illegally imported during an operation carried out in the airports of Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Palma de Mallorca.
The operation was aimed at the irregular distribution of drugs via the internet and the illegal import and sale of such drugs.
Amongst the seized drugs were 36,500 units of sexual enhancers, 21,000 painkillers and antibiotics and 350,000 other drugs, the majority originating from China. Police performed 136 checks on baggage and parcels at the airports as well as inspections of 245 different establishments.
Police also identified 113 websites where illegal drugs were being advertised, offered for sale or being distributed.
