Two new stretches of the Mediterranean Highway inaugurated

After eighteen years, two new stretches of the Mediterranean Highway in Granada have been officially inaugurated, a total of ten kilometres of road built at a cost of €19 million per kilometre.

The new stretches are between Taramay and Lobres and from Lobres to río Guadalfeo. It is all part of the grand scheme to connect Motril with Málaga via Salobreña and Almuñecar and the new stretches should see an end to the regular summer tailbacks.

It also means that it is highway all the way from Nerja to Granada, reducing the travelling time to the Alhambra by twenty minutes.

There are still three more sections of the highway to be completed.
