A wildfire which broke out in Mijas at around 17:30 on Sunday has been stabilised and some 400 residents of urbanisation Marina del Sol who were evacuated from their homes as a precautionary measure have now returned.
The residents of urbanisation Marina del Sol were evacuated due to the amount of smoke in the area, not due to the danger of flames reaching the properties.
The fire began at around 17:30 in an area of scrub and pine trees near calle Noruega in urbanisation El Chaparral. Around 70 people were involved in fighting the fire on land along with two amphibious aircraft, four helicopters, a cargo plane and another for monitoring and coordination of proceedings.
