A slow day at the office

The Council has approved a number of motions relating to the provincial, regional and national governments.

The Council also urges the Junta de Andalucia to fulfil its commitments and responsibilities to gender equality and provide 100% financing for gender equality programmes being carried out in the municipalities of Málaga province.

The Council calls for the Minister of Equality, Health and Social Policies to coordinate the activities taking place within the province.

The Council urges the National Government to extend unemployment benefit to all those unemployed for more than one year who are registered with the Public Employment Service and who have family responsibilities and meet the required criteria for financial assistance.

The Council also calls upon the National Government, in cooperation with the regional governments and other social partners, to establish a specific plan of action relating to the long-term unemployed.

Another motion urges the National Government to strengthen public funding through the State Budget so that the most needy in society receive sufficient staple foods to cover their basic needs. The Council also urges the National Government to provide food assistance for 2014 of an equal or superior quality and variety to that provided under the Plan 2013.
