Seven resignations so far in the wake of credit card scandal

The Ministry of Finance has opened an investigation into the use of opaque company credit cards, not only those in the Ibex-35, following the scandal involving former members of Caja Madrid who spent €15.25 million over a period of thirteen years.

Since the scandal broke, seven former executives involved with Caja Madrid have resigned within the past forty-eight hours.

These are chief of staff of the Secretariat of State for Finance, José María Buenaventura, Secretary General of the UGT-Madrid union, José Ricardo Martínez, Socialist Ángel Gómez del Pulgar, member of the Confederal Executive CCOO union Rodolfo Benito, the manager of the Municipal Land and Housing Company(EMSV) in the Madrid suburb of Boadilla del Monte, José Rodríguez, the president of the Fundación Caja Madrid, Carmen Cafranga and the former director general of Economy in the Comunidad de Madrid, Pablo Abejas.
