A forest fire began at around 14:00 on Sunday in Cortijo Albercón, an abandoned agricultural area in Lanjarón, for reasons as yet unknown.
Seven aerial units, four vehicles and 42 firefighters, environmental officers and a medical unit were involved in trying to extinguish the fire. It was eventually brought under control at around 17:00 and some of the aerial units were withdrawn.
Some firefighters remain at the scene until the fire is completely extinguished and poses no further threat. The amount of damage caused has not yet been assessed.
