At some time on Sunday, thieves broke into the chemist in Plaza de la Ermita, Nerja, making off with the contents of the safe which was found, empty, in the middle of the street.
The thieves are believed to have been professionals, as they knew exactly what they were looking for, cash, and didn’t bother with electrical items, drugs etc.
The door, a strong affair fitted with a special anti-theft system proved no hindrance to the thieves.
The Guardia Civil is investigating the incident.
