The Guardia Civil in Barcelona has seized 26,000 kilos of kebab meat, manufactured in Central Europe, which was not subjected to health controls.
The unregulated meat was stored in the warehouses of two companies and was being sold to bars and restaurants.
The investigation was a joint operation between Interpol and Europol to stop the manufacture, distribution and sale of food and drink that could be counterfeit, of poor quality, or not subject to compulsory health checks.
In 2013 the Guardia Civil seized 500 tons of illegal foodstuffs and 400,000 litres of illegal drinks.
