The director of programming and continuity at Canal Sur TV, José Luis Pereñiguez, has resigned his position in the wake of the fiasco which occurred on December 31st relating to the chimes for the New Year.
The chimes for New Year were this year broadcast from the plaza de la Catedral in Almería. The camera focused on the clock and the chimes began. However, after one chime, two blocks of commercials appeared and viewers missed the next nine chimes.
The error was apparently human and involved three workers at the station.
