A woman and her three-year-old granddaughter died in the early hours of Friday morning in a fire at a home in calle Castañuellan in the Nervión district of Sevilla.
Calls were received at 05:43 to say that two people, an adult and a minor, were trapped inside a second floor apartment.
It is reported that both the mother and grandmother of the child managed to get outside but the child died in the fire. The grandmother suffered cardiac arrest and despite the efforts of medics, died at the scene.
