Marbella starts process of legalising chiringuitos

Marbella is beginning the process of legalising the status of the numerous beach ‘chiringuitos’ following the change of policy towards such establishments by the central government.

Approval for Estepona chiringuitos

The Department of Coasts has approved a request by Estepona Council to maintain nineteen chiringuitos (beach bars) on the beaches in the municipality.

Chiringuitos to remain where they are

At least for the moment, the beach ‘chiringuitos’ in Andalucía will remain exactly where they are as the various parties in the dispute move closer to an agreement on the future of such establishments.

Nerja Council wants chiringuitos to stay

The Nerja Council is committed to supporting the continued presence of beach chiringuitos in both Nerja and the whole province according to the PP spokesman José Miguel García.

Chiringuito owners in Andalucía are threatening to instigate a novel protest if they do not get a solution to the ‘problem’ within the next fifteen days. They are going to build a chiringuito outside the Ministry of Environment office in Madrid and start making espetas de sardinas – sardines on a stick – and other typical products.

Chaves proposes three-way discussion to resolve chiringuito problem

The President of the Junta de Andalucía, Manuel Chaves, has today proposed the setting up of a working group involving the Junta, the Central Government and owners of beach bars (chiringuitos) to try and resolve the issues surrounding the implementation of the Coastal Law.
