New PGOU for Comares

The new PGOU (General Plan) currently being drafted for Comares includes plans for the construction of 405 homes during the coming years, of which 165 will be subsidised VPO or VPP dwellings.

Crash barriers replaced

Málaga Council has replaced the ninety metres of crash barriers stolen last Monday from a stretch of the MA-3111 between Olías and Comares. The road is part of the provincial network and the work was completed on Friday morning.

Water problems in the Benamargosa valley

Five municipalities in the Benamargosa valley have not been receiving water from Lake Viñuela since Saturday November 17th due to damage caused to pipes by the last storms. Almáchar, El Borge, Benamargosa, Cútar and Comares are the affected municipalities with a total population of around 7,000 residents.

Fiesta de San Hilario de Poitiers in Comares

Comares celebrates the Fiesta de San Hilario de Poitiers on Saturday, January 14th, a celebration which has changed very little over time and attracts over 4,000 visitors to the town.

Repairs to MA-3111 in Comares

Work has begun to repair the MA-3111 access road to Comares, including renewal of a retaining wall at km 7.4 and drivers will have to find alternative routes to Benamargosa and Ríogordo. The repairs are costing €112,700 and are being financed through provincial funds.

Digital Health for Alfarnate and Comares

Users of the Health Centres in Alfarnate (1307 people) and Comares (724 people) can now take advantage of the Digital Health Record to obtain prescriptions and make doctor’s appointments. This can be done either on the internet or via sms messages from mobile phones.

New pumping station for Comares

The Junta de Andalucia is investing €411,218 to improve the water treatment plant and collection network in Comares.
