Three romerías this weekend

Three towns are holding their ‘romería’ (pilgrimage) this weekend, namely Benamargosa, Colmenar and Comares.

In Benamargosa it is the Romería de Purisima, in Colmenar the Romería de Candelaria and in Comares it is the Romería de San Isidro.

Benamargosa:

Starts today at 18:30 and continues until Sunday, the location being a site between the rio Benamargosa and the arroyo de Cútar.

Saturday highlights include a concert by ‘Diamante’.

Sunday is the traditional ‘paella day’, with the return journey at 21:00.

Colmenar:

The romería starts on Saturday at midday and heads to the Venta Pine for lunch, returning to the town at around 18:00 when the festivities will begin.

Sunday is basically party time. There is a mass at 13:00 in honour of the patron saint, the Virgen de la Candelaria.

Comares:

The Romería de San Isidro takes place from today until Sunday. The procession is on Sunday, starting at 11:30 from the Plaza de la Axarquia and going to Haza Lana. A mass will be held at the site itself with particpation by the Alcazaba choir.

Paella is the order of the day.
