Two men, aged 32 and 53 years, have been arrested on suspicion of stealing 300 kilos of mangoes from a farm in Benamargosa.
Water problems in the Benamargosa valley
Five municipalities in the Benamargosa valley have not been receiving water from Lake Viñuela since Saturday November 17th due to damage caused to pipes by the last storms. Almáchar, El Borge, Benamargosa, Cútar and Comares are the affected municipalities with a total population of around 7,000 residents.
Repairs to MA-3107 between Riogordo and Benamargosa
Ministry of Development delegate Ignacio Mena has been visiting the MA-3107 linking Riogordo and Benamargosa where emergency repairs have been carried out following landslides during the past months which necessitated the closing of certain sections. A comprehensive €600,000 renovation of the road is planned for 2013.

The IX Fiesta del Campo takes place in Benamargosa on Sunday with the tasting of local produce and sampling of local wines as well as musical performances. The event starts at midday and around 12,000 visitors are expected to attend this popular celebration.

The Ministry of Interior, through the Directorate General for Civil Protection and Emergency, has awarded €22,000 financial assistance to the municipality of Benamargosa to help repair damage caused by hail storms in February 2009.
