U-turn in Madrid over hospital privatisation

The PP regional government in Madrid on Monday adroitly and successfully performed that most popular of political manoeuvres, the U-turn, and cancelled its planned outsourcing (formerly privatisation) of management and services at six local hospitals.

Hospital waiting lists on the increase

Average waiting times for surgery in Spain have risen from 76 to 100 days and there are now 571,395 people waiting for operations, the worst figures since the Ministry of Health started recording such data in 2004.

Operations postponed in Ronda Hospital

The delegate for the Medical Association of Málaga (SIMM) in Ronda, Cristóbal Avilés, stated that five operations were postponed at the hospital yesterday as a result of a shortage of anesthesiologists.
