Lorenzo moves to the top of the standings

Spain’s Jorge Lorenzo was a fairly comfortable winner of a wet French MotoGP in Le Mans and in doing so he moves into the lead in the World Championship. A revitalised Valentino Rossi, nine-times world champion, was second and Casey Stoner was third.

Lorenzo back to winning ways

Jorge Lorenzo ended Casey Stoner’s winning streak with victory in Misano with fellow countryman Dani Pedrosa in second and Stoner in third. Lorenzo took the lead at the first corner and held on to cut Stoner’s championship lead to 35 points.

Lorenzo crowned World Champion

Spain’s Jorge Lorenzo has been crowned MotoGP world champion after finishing third in the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang.

Lorenzo ‘almost champion’

With five races still to go in MotoGP, Jorge Lorenzo only needs to finish ninth or better in the next race to become the new World Champion after finishing fourth in the Japanese MotoGP at Motegi. That is, of course, assuming Dani Pedrosa does not race in Malaysia.

Lorenzo wins the Czech GP
