World numero uno Rafael Nadal was the second Spaniard to fall at the quarter-final stage, losing 6-4 3-6 7-6 to Argentinian Juan Martin del Potro.

World number two Rafael Nadal, playing in his first final since last July, was soundly beaten in the Miami Masters event, losing 6-4. 6-2 to Nikolay Davydenko. The Russian broke the Spaniard’s serve twice in each set and it was all over in an hour and a half, Davydenko picking up his second career Masters title.
