AEN project to help new businesses in Nerja

In what is surprisingly a pioneering, but welcome project in the municipality, the Business Association of Nerja (AEN) will be holding weekly sessions to help people starting up a new business. The project is called Start + Help and the aim is to provide assistance relating to obtaining funding, finding the appropriate premises, locating potential partners, viability plans and training.

Help for small businesses

The Council of Ministers has approved a royal decree designed to change the administrative culture, liberalise trade, eliminate bureaucracy, streamline and simplify procedures and support entrepreneurs, the measure including the so-called ‘autolicencia exprés’ – automatic licence.

New businesses

Renovations are in full swing at the bottom end of calle Pintada as a new business prepares to open. Work is also continuing on the premises of the former Calahonda pastry shop and the adjacent Drugstore, these now being merged into one single shop.

Decline in new business applications in Estepona

Figures released by Estepona Council show that the number of people requesting licences for new businesses dropped by 50% during 2008 when compared to the previous year.
