VÉLEZ-MÁLAGA BEACHES IN NEED OF REPAIR

In Vélez-Málaga, the recent inclement weather has so far caused damage to 16 kilometres of the 22 kilometres of Municipal beaches.

The mayor of Vélez-Málaga, Francisco Delgado, is asking the Department of Coasts to carry out urgent remedial works so that the beaches are in good shape for the Easter holiday period. In Mezquitilla, the Council had to carry out emergency work on Sunday, building a wall of sand to prevent the sea from washing over the promenade and entering houses in the area.

The mayor is also asking the Ministry of Environment to direct the Department of Coasts to carry out a serious study into the construction of sea walls to prevent the perpetual erosion of the beaches in the municipality.
