There is a yellow alert for rain in Málaga, the Costa del Sol, Axarquia, Ronda and the Guadalhorce Valley. Around 15 litres of rain per square metre can be expected. Flooding has already occurred this morning in Esrepona and Marbella.
In Estepona, it took just five minutes for basements, shops, garages and even the marina to get flooded. Avenida del Carmen is flooded and traffic is being diverted. The drains and the sewage system in general in the lower areas have been unable to cope with the deluge of water and have overflowed. Dozens of cars have been stranded.
Marbella is pretty similar, with San Pedro suffering the worst of the onslaught.
