Real Madrid suffered a setback yesterday, losing 1-0 to Deportivo thanks to Pepe putting the ball in his own net. Maybe the manager should start issuing maps to his player! One for each half!!

Sevilla have moved up into Champions League contention after a 1-2 win at Valencia. The match between Betis and Athletic Bilbao was abandoned after the visiting keeper was hit by a bottle thrown from the crowd.

In Division 2, Numancia have increased their lead at the top of the table, although hopefully only temporarily, after snatching a late winner against third placed Real Sociedad.

Lewis Hamilton in his McLaren got off to a flying start to the new F1 season with a win down under in Melbourne. Nick Heidfeld in a BMW-Sauber was second and Nico Rosberg was third in a Williams.

The race was littered with incident, and debris, right from the start and the saftey car was out on no less than three occasions. Rubens Barrichello managed to drive away with the fuel line still attached to his car, bowling over one of the pit crew in the process, and only seven cars finished the race.

Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Bourdais was classified eighth on his debut, despite retiring with engine failure while running fourth ahead of Alonso and Kovalainen with three laps to go.
