New City Ordinance in Benalmádena

As from now, the selling of vehicles on the streets of Benelmádena requires a licence from the Municipal Council.

The streets of Benalmádena always seem to have numerous cars with ‘for sale’ stickers on them and the vast majority seem to be car dealers saving on the cost of a car lot. Also, research has shown that up to 80% of the cars for sale are not actually from Benalmádena but are just parked there. But not any more.

The new City Ordinance does permit a vehicle to display a ‘for sale’ sign but only for one week. The vendor must apply for a licence from the Town Hall and that licence must also be displayed on the vehicle. When applying for the licence, the vendor must also provide details of exactly where the vehicle will be parked.

Offenders face a fine of €90 and their vehicles will be towed away. It is hoped that this new measure will help the overall parking situation in the town.

Also included in the new ordinance are regulations governing camper vans and caravans. Such vehicles may now only park in areas designated or approved by the Town Hall. When actually being used as living accommodation, such vehicles may only park for a maximum period of 24 hours.
