The National Police has detained 13 people and seized 570 kilos of cocaine as the result of an investigation which began in Málaga.
The police investigation began in November 2007 and culminated in the seizure of 570 kilos pf cocaine in Barcelona and the arrest of thirteen individuals, four in Barcelona, six in Rubi and three in Málaga itself.
The detainees are Spanish, Italian, Mexican and Colombian nationals and include a Colombian police officer with the rank of Colonel.
The network had formed a company relating to the importing of stone tiles for the construction industry. The tiles, mainly from Mexico and Argentina, were fakes, made from a metallic fabric and resin. Once the resin hardened they looked just like the real thing, the only difference being that each one contained around three kilos of cocaine.
