At least six injured during demonstration in Almería

At least six people were injured yesterday when riot police confronted angry farmers in Almería.

Up to 4,000 farmers gathered outside the Ministry of Finance building in Paseo de Almería to demand tax relief due to the low profitability of farms. At around 13:00, the farmers began throwing cucumbers and aubergines at the facade of the building. The riot police responded to this deadly onslaught with rubber bullets and in the ensuing melée at least six people were injured, including a photo-journalist.

The demonstration was called by the agricultural organisations COAG and ASAJA.
