Antonio Barrientos, mayor of Estepona, is the latest politician to get himself arrested, the charges being corruption, money laundering, influence peddling etc, the usual stuff.
The mayor of Estepona, Antonio Barrientos, and nineteen other officials have been detained in connection with corruption relating to city planning irregularities. The municipality is said to have been operating along similar lines to Marbella where corruption was rife.
There are currently 1,578 pending cases relating to irregularities in urban planning and building in Estepona.
