Award for Nerja

The Nerja Councillor for Culture, Angelica Portillo, was in Madrid on Friday to collect an award.

Councillor Portillo was in Madrid to collect the award ‘Ciudadanos’, a prize relating to cultural history.

The ‘Ciudadanos’ prize is organised by AERTEDI, the Asociación de Entidades de Radio y Televisión Digital (Association of Digital Radio and Television), in conjunction with the Consejo Audiovisual Ciudadano (Audio Visual Council), and it is in its sixth year.

The awards, which are both national and international, are designed to express appreciation to individuals or organisations who have been involved with social projects of support and solidarity with its citizens and projects dealing with problems in city life.

The winners each received a 30 cm bronze statue sculpted by the well-known madrileño artist José de las Casas.

Apart from the municipality of Nerja, other winners included The Esther Koplowitz Foundation, the Save the Children Fund and the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.
