The remains of a young child, thought to be between 2 and 4 years old, were discovered yesterday on Mezquitilla beach.
A local fisherman, out for his regular early morning session, spotted a package, wrapped in plastic, which had been washed ashore. Inside the package was the trunk of a young child, believed to be of sub-Saharan origin, and aged between two and four years old.
It is thought that the body is from one of the two boats full of illegal immigrants which were wrecked off the Granada and Almería coasts a couple of weeks back. Several other body parts were also found along the shore and these have all been transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Málaga.
