Nerja market saga

A meeting has been scheduled for 10:00 tomorrow, July 24th, between the Nerja Council and the Association of Market Traders (AVAM).

For the fifth consecutive week, the market traders refused to set up their stalls at the new market site in Almijara as the dispute continues. However, this week, there was no protest march through the streets of the town, traders deciding instead to hand out leaflets.

According to the head of AVAM, Juan Rojas, the meeting is mainly to address recent incidents involving the Local Police, although the general situation regarding the market is also expected to feature in the discussion.

The Council has once again insisted that the new site in Almijara is the one and only location available at the current time.
