Oil slick forces closure of two beaches in Málaga

Two beaches in Málaga had to be cordoned off and closed for bathing yesterday after the appearance of an oil slick.

San Andrés and La Misericordia beaches were closed for bathing yesterday after the appearance of a load of gunk in the water.

The slick was discovered in the morning and three boats have been busy removing the solid matter from the water. The company Limasa has also been taking part in the clean-up operation.

Samples of the slick have been taken for analysis to determine its exact composition. It is not known from whence it came.
