Brits abroad

A British Home Office report has revealed an increase in the number of Britons arrested abroad, particularly in France and Spain.

Overall, the number of Britons arrested while on holiday has increased by 15.6%, with 4,603 people being detained. The reason, in the majority of cases, is alcohol related.

Arrests in Spain have gone up by one third and in France by around 42%. During 2006/2007, there were 2.032 Brits, including ex-pats, arrested in Spain.

Amazingly, 6,710 Brits lost their passports in Spain, second only to those managing to lose them in the USA.
