The Department of Housing and Planning of the Junta de Andalucía has approved an amendment to the Vélez-Málaga PGOU to allow the construction of an industrial estate, or ‘business park’.
The site for the business park is at the southern end of the municipality near the Torrox road. The area already has some industry which is incompatible with a residential area as proposed under the PGOU. The change will permit these industries to remain in the area and will also prevent around 100 jobs being lost.
