Ukrainian weightlifter Igor Razoronov has been disqualified from the Olympic Games after testing positive for nandrolone. Razoronov finished sixth in the 105kg category.
The International Olympic Committee has asked for the result of his event to be changed as a consequence of the disqualification.
Razoronov is the sixth competitor, and second Ukrainian, to fail a drugs test at this year’s Games and may also face punishment by the International Weightlifting Federation
Initial predictions were for some 40 athletes to end up testing positive for banned substances, so 6 (or 10 if you count the equines!) is a good sign. Unless, of course, ‘masking’ has taken a step forward!
