The US pairing of Mike Bryan and Mardy Fish beat the Spanish duo Feliciano Lopez and Fernando Verdasco to give them some hope going into the final singles matches today.
The US are the current holders of the Davis Cup but went into the doubles match trailing Spain by 0-2 and now need to win both of the remaining singles matches in order to progress to the final.
Mardy Fish was only drafted into the doubles match after Mike Bryan’s regular partner, his brother Bob, suffered a shoulder injury. It was a long, up and down match, the Americans eventually winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
