Six women freed in Operation Peseta

The National Police has dismantled an organisation in Málaga dedicated to the exploitation of women for sexual purposes.

Two men, both Rumanian, have been detained as part of what was known as ‘Operation Peseta’. The organisation recruited women in Rumania and then forced them to work as prostitutes in Spain, either in clubs or on the streets.

The not unsubstantial amounts of money earned by the prostitutes would be handed over to the leaders of the network and forwarded to Rumania.

During the operation, police freed six women, three of whom were minors. They also seized cash and documents in various raids on houses.
