Trees on the move in Coín

The parks and gardens of Coín are going to benefit from the roadworks taking place on the road from the town to Entrerríos, Mijas.

Rather than destroying the local nature during the works, over one thousand trees and shrubs, the majority native to the Mediterranean, will be transferred to a nursery before being replanted in various parks and gardens in the municipality.

Two areas to immediately benefit from this project will be the area near the old feria ground and in El Nacimiento.

The nursery is not only being seen as a temporary repository for local flora, but also as a long term source of supplies when new parks or gardens are added.

On the move will be:

  • 11 Washington Palms (not native to the Mediterranean)
  • 12 Holm Oak
  • 227 European Fan Palms
  • 8 Algorrobos
  • 47 Wild Olive
  • 502 Juniper
  • 123 Olive Trees
  • 20 Kermes Oak
