Flights from Jerez were delayed and incoming flights were diverted as an a mock security exercise turned into a real drama with the discovery of a suspicious package.
An official exercise at Jerez airport, designed to simulate a terrorist attack, changed as a suspicious package was discovered on one of the airport seats. Guardia Civil sniffer dogs detected signs of explosives in the package and TEDAX officers were then called in to carry out a controlled detonation.
