Barcelona lose again

football1Only four points in it now at the top of La Liga after Barcelona lost 4-3 to Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon stadium.

Barcelona went ahead in the 18th minute, a bit against the run of play at the time, with a goal from Thierry Henry and twelve minutes later, Lionel Messi put them further ahead. Atletico pulled one back a minute later after Diego Forlan hammered home a long range shot.

Aguero levelled the score at the beginning of the second half but a little while later Barca were back in the driving seat with a second goal from Thierry Henry.

Ten minutes before the end, Atletico pressure paid dividends and they were awarded a penalty which Forlan duly converted. Then, in the 89th minute, Aguero slotted home what was to be the winning goal and Barcelona slumped to their second defeat in a row.

End to end stuff with plenty of chances for both sides.

Betis came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw at home to Villarreal, Cazorla bagging a brace for the visitors and Garcia and Oliveira scoring for the home side.

The Blue and Whites, playing over half the match with ten men after Lolo was shown red for a foul on Jesús Vazquez, went down 0-2 to Recreativo, the goals coming from Camunas and Colunga. A missed opportunity for Málaga C.F. to move up into the Champions League spots.

In the Primera Andaluza Grupo 3, Nerja had a good 3-0 win against Barrio NS Remedios. Fifth place, but a game in hand on the clubs ahead of them.

Leaders Mancha Real went to Fuengirola and came away with the three points, winning 0-4. They have only lost one match all season so far.

Second placed El Palo, unbeaten this season, could only manage a 1-1 draw with Dos Hermanos S. Andres and are now four points behind the leaders having played one game more.

Poor Alcalá C.F. suffered again, this time at the hands of Torremolinos, 0-8 the scoreline.
