Still some issues to be settled

football1Despite taking the lead against Mallorca with a goal by Higuain, Real Madrid went on to lose the match 1-3 as Arango, Santana and Keita popped the ball into the back of the net at regular intervals.

Champions Barcelona also suffered defeat at the hands of Osasuna, the only goal of the match coming from Pandiani in the 26th minute. The win gives Osasuna a chance of avoiding relegation. Barcelona, of course, will be more interested in their upcoming Champions League final against Manchester United on May 27th.

With just one match remaining, still a few issues to be settled. If Atlético Madrid slip up, Villarreal could grab a Champions League spot and if Valencia lose, Deportivo could move into a  Europa Cup (former UEFA Cup) spot.

Down in the nether regions, Numancia and Recreativo are already relegated, but who will join them has yet to be decided. Valladolid, Getafe, Betis, Osasuna and Sporting are all potential candidates.
