A fire in Chorrosquina, Algeciras, last night resulted in the destruction of 25 hectares of scrub and woodland and forced the evacuation of 118 people from their homes.
The fire started at around 18:15 in an area known as Majadal Alto and neighbouring residents had to be evacuated from their homes as the flames spread.
A total of nine aircraft helped to fight the fire which was eventually brought under control at 23:00. Firefighters continued to work throughout the night to try and extinguish the blaze.
