The local Verbena de San Cristóbal takes place this coming weekend in the Barriada de Los Poetas (up near San Juan de Capistrano), with a full schedule of events planned. The festivities will, as per the norm, be preceded by a volley of cruise missiles, leaving no-one in doubt that something is going on!
The schedule is as follows:
Friday 12:00 – Launching of the ICBM’s to announce the start of proceedings and then snacks for the kids.
Friday 14:30 – Paella courtesy of ‘Ayo’.
Friday 20:30 – Election of La Reina and Caballero Infantil (Queen and Knight).
Performance by ‘José
Friday 00:00 – Performance by ‘El Mani’ followed by dancing to ‘Aromas’.
Saturday 13:00 – Dance Academy Juani
Sampling of ‘espetos de sardinas’ during the afternoon.
Saturday 18:00 – Fiesta de la espuma (Festival of the Foam).
Saturday 20:00 – Dance Academy Elena
Saturday 21:00 – Performance by the singer ‘Maria’.
Saturday 22:30 – Performance by Sábado Flamenco, featuring Manolo Gallardo, Sebastián López, Manolo Bolívar, Miguel Torres, Pepe Azuaga and Manolo Torres.
Saturday 00:00 – Grand Firework Display.
The firework display will be followed by a performance by Maria Navas and then dancing into the early hours with ‘Aromas’.
