Maro beach will have a refreshment kiosk this year after the unfortunate demise of chiringuito Las Palomas last February, the bar being completely destroyed by fire.
The installation of a kiosk has been approved by the Department of Coasts and the deadline for bids for the concession is July 14th. The concession will run until October 31st for this year. Next year, the concession period would be from the Saturday before Easter until October 31st.
Those bidding for the kiosk concession can expect to pay a minimum of €6,000.
The Councilor for Beaches, Jonathan Méndez, has stated that it is the intention to permit the construction of a new chiringuito on Maro beach but this requires a change to the Plan General de Ordenación Urbana (PGOU), something the Council is already ‘working on’.
