The Spanish Junior Athletics Championships took place at the weekend in Calviá, Mallorca, and local lass Lorena Laz was crowned champion in the 400 metres in a time of 56.69 seconds.
Lorena is a member of the Club Nerja de Atletismo, Cueva de Nerja-Uma. The club had seven other athletes in the finals and other results were:
- Amanda Rodríguez 5th in long jump and 7th in triple jump.
- Agueda Porras 7th in long jump and 7th in triple jump.
- Verónica López 5th in pole vault.
- Sonia Vargas 7th in pole vault.
- Enrique Zambrano 6th in 400 metres hurdles.
- Jorge Bermejo 7th in pole vault.
- Both 4 x 100 metres relay teams finished 5th.
